Overview

Renovating, extending or adding solar often means the meter box has to move or be replaced. Because it involves disconnecting and reconnecting the supply, a regular electrician can't do it alone.

We relocate and replace meter boxes across Sydney, from the disconnection to the new enclosure to the reconnection, and work with your retailer to get the meter reinstated.

Why relocating a meter box is Level 2 work

Moving a meter box means disconnecting the supply, rerouting the service or consumer mains to the new location and reconnecting it. The service and connection side of that job has to be done by an accredited Level 2 electrician to the Service and Installation Rules of NSW, which also set where a meter box can go.

Older meter boards and asbestos

Many homes built before the 1990s have meter boards that may contain asbestos. If yours does, it needs to be handled and disposed of following the asbestos safety rules, not just unscrewed. Replacing the old board with a modern enclosure is often done at the same time as a relocation or upgrade.

Who supplies the meter

Meters are arranged through your electricity retailer's metering provider. We do the enclosure, wiring and Level 2 work, and coordinate with them so the meter goes back in without delays.
