Overview
A defect notice means the network has found something on your side of the connection point that needs fixing, and it comes with a deadline.
Send us a photo of the notice. We'll tell you what it means, quote the repair, do the work and notify the network that it's complete.
Distributors inspect the network and the connections to it. If they find a problem on the customer's side of the connection point, they issue a defect notice to the owner with a timeframe for the repair. Ausgrid explains that owners are responsible for private poles, powerlines and pole-top fittings beyond the connection point.
Leaving a defect unrepaired can lead to the supply being disconnected. Where a defect is dangerous, the network may disconnect straight away.
